The Israelite's saw SO MANY wonders yet they STILL forgot God's all encompassing power! They traveled FOREVER (not quite, but it sure seemed that way!) in the desert because of their lack of faith and disobedience!
Today I want to talk about Joshua though...once Moses passed away God chose Joshua to lead them to the Promised Land. He provided them with a leader! I think that is amazing in of itself! He didn't just leave them to "figure it out".
When they went to cross the Jordan River over into the Promised Land, Joshua had the priests go first- after all..they were carrying the ark of the covenant! As soon as their feet touched the water, it pulled away as if there was a dam there! Once again the Israelite's were able to cross a body of water as though it were land...God is pretty AMAZING!
The thing I want to focus on here is the 12 stones.
Joshua had them take stones from the dry riverbed and build a memorial as a reminder that God was always with them. You can imagine what each of the stones may have represented to the people. One might represent God sending Moses to free them from Pharaoh. Another might remind them that God parted the Red Sea. All along God was with them. He NEVER gave up on them! It took 400 years to make it to the Promised Land! God never forgot, He never changed His mind, He was ALWAYS with them.
We need to remember that NO MATTER what the circumstances look like-God is always with us.
His SUPERNATURAL power has no limitations! He made EVERYTHING-of course he can do anything. If he made the Sea, He can cause it to part. God is INVOLVED in our lives. He loves us VERY much. Remember--He knows how many hairs are on your head...all the time!
Lean on Him, believe His word. It is our ROCK when the world is shaky!
